Alarm.com, a highly innovative and entrepreneurial SaaS (Software as a Service) company, is seeking a Director, Financial Analysis to build and manage both the finance and the accounting functions and to play a key role in optimizing financial performance at 'Alarm.com Advance', a consumer financing FinTech subsidiary company within Alarm.com. Alarm.com Advance provides innovative consumer financing products to the security and smart home markets. This role will be responsible for supporting the lending program and will be part of the broader Alarm.com Finance and Accounting organizations. The scope covers all aspects of the lending program and requires moving seamlessly between independently performing financial analysis and concisely articulating relevant insights to senior leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop financial forecasts and cash flows, monitor program performance, perform actuals vs. forecast variance analyses, and prepare detailed horizontal analyses month-over-month
- Develop and implement proposals using data-driven analysis to optimize the financial performance of the program, including changes to product offerings to improve revenue and/or cost
- Develop and provide program level reporting and supporting details, including KPIs, to a collection of internal stakeholders and external parties such as bank partners and debt investors
- Enable budget planning and capital allocation decisions on a periodic basis by providing pertinent information to various decision forums or committees
- Perform loss forecasting and stress testing analyses as needed
- Develop robust financial forecasting models that are scalable and adaptable to the program's needs
- Continually evaluate internal financial and accounting processes for efficiencies, leveraging technology and automation to drive efficiencies
- Support internal and external audits as required
- Assist with daily and monthly end close for various loan products, namely unsecured personal consumer loans and any other newly developed loan related products, including
- creating accounting entries (e.g. standard general ledger, transaction account) related to input of new and existing loans in the loan portfolio
- completing reconciliations for loan portfolio and operating bank accounts
- distributing daily, monthly, weekly loan portfolio reports internally as required
- working closely with the Controller and external auditors to assess the Company's current compliance with SOX 404 and implement controls and procedures to ensure compliance with SOX
- Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance projects, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative major (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) required
- 7+ years of related financial analysis and financial modeling experience, with a solid understanding of US GAAP and strong analytical skills
- Willingness to play a large individual contributor role, with the ability to function autonomously, manage to deadlines, respond to requests in a timely manner and partner cross-functionally
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to articulate analytical takeaways and highlight issues to a range of audiences
- Ability to interact with senior management, present information and address questions or concerns
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and working with databases
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- 3+ years experience with lending business models, lending financial forecasting, and lending financial analysis
- Strong technical skills and experience with coding languages (SQL, Python, etc.)
