Duties
- Provide peer-led support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use issues, fostering trust and engagement.
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for clients and staff.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients’ motivation for change and recovery goals.
- Assist clients in navigating behavioral health services, including referrals and coordination with treatment providers.
- Document interactions and progress accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
- Support clients in developing coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and self-advocacy skills.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized recovery plans that reflect clients’ strengths and aspirations.
Experience
- Must hold an active certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist from an approved certifying body.
- Demonstrated experience in behavioral health, mental health counseling, or addiction counseling is highly preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health support are essential.
- Experience with social work principles, mentoring, or motivational interviewing enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems ensures accurate documentation of client interactions.
- Knowledge of community resources related to mental health, substance use treatment, and social services is advantageous.
