Business Outreach & Information Intern - On site in Laramie, Wyoming - Fall + Winter Internship - Part-time
EcosAtlas is a Laramie-based business and industrial intelligence platform that helps economic development and manufacturing support organizations identify U.S. businesses, understand their capabilities and certifications, map supply chains, and track changes over time.
The Internship
Information about U.S. businesses and industries is spread across government agencies, public-records offices, associations, nonprofits, certification organizations, researchers, and other providers. In this internship, you will help EcosAtlas locate that information by reaching out to the people and organizations responsible for it.
Much of the role involves making calls, sending emails, asking clear questions, following up, and keeping organized records of what you learn. You will build practical experience in professional communication, public-records requests, relationship building, information gathering, and process documentation. This is primarily an outreach and communications role, not a programming or data-analysis internship.
What You’ll Do
- Call and email government agencies, records custodians, associations, nonprofits, certification organizations, researchers, and other information providers.·
- Ask questions to determine what information an organization maintains, how it can be accessed, how often it is updated, and whether there are any costs or restrictions.·
- Draft, submit, track, and follow up on federal FOIA and state or local public-records requests.·
- Request sample records or other materials that help confirm what information is available.·
- Find organizations and contacts related to business registrations, licenses, permits, certifications, contracting activity, manufacturing capabilities, and similar topics.·
- Maintain an organized record of contacts, conversations, requests, materials received, and next steps.·
- Write clear notes and instructions explaining how EcosAtlas can obtain the information again in the future.·
- Complete focused outreach and information-gathering projects related to particular industries, regions, or organizations.
Who We’re Looking For
- Comfortable making professional calls, introducing yourself, asking questions, and following up when needed.·
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.·
- Persistent, dependable, and willing to contact multiple people to find the right information.·
- Highly organized and able to keep track of several conversations and requests at once.·

- Able to work independently while asking for guidance when needed.·
- Open to students from many fields. Your major matters less than your communication skills, persistence, organization, and willingness to learn.
