Essential Duties
Position Summary:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for evaluating and acquiring Class 5–8 heavy-duty trucks, automobiles, farm equipment, and construction equipment for dismantling, repair, or resale in as-is condition.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional travel required for trade shows and customer visits
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess equipment submissions from a variety of sources, including phone inquiries, current and prospective vendors, tow facilities, insurance appraisers/adjusters, email submissions, and auction platforms
- Determine purchase viability based on photos, reports, and available documentation
- Make informed purchasing decisions aligned with company goals (parts, repair, or resale)
- Coordinate transportation logistics for acquired equipment
- Manage title processing in compliance with Michigan regulations and applicable out-of-state requirements
- Maintain clear and professional communication with vendors, partners, and internal teams
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, automobiles, and various types of machinery
- Relevant experience in mechanical repair, body work, insurance, or a related field preferred
- Ability to accurately evaluate equipment condition from photos and written reports
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Pay is negotiable and based on experience
No nights, weekends or holidays
