Sterile Processing Technician (Part-Time or Full-Time)
Job Overview :
Legacy Dental is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our growing team. This position is available as either part-time or full-time and plays an essential role in providing safe, high-quality patient care by ensuring all dental instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use.
The ideal candidate is organized, enjoys working behind the scenes, and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of infection control. Previous sterile processing experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
Responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect, inspect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to OSHA, CDC, and office protocols.
- Prepare and package instruments for sterilization and verify sterilization indicators.
- Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, following manufacturer recommendations and safety standards.
- Maintain organized instrument and supply inventories and restock operatories as needed.
- Monitor sterilization logs, biological testing, and equipment maintenance records.
- Ensure all instruments are properly assembled, functional, and ready for patient care.
- Assist with ordering and managing inventory of sterile supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized sterilization area that meets all infection control standards.
- Work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants to support efficient patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily office operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sterile processing, dental assisting, or another healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures is preferred.
- Sterile Processing Certification is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards of patient safety.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
