Job Summary
BEST Crowd Management is hiring Event Security Officers to support events throughout the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, including premier venues such as the Miller High Life Theatre and the Pabst Theater. Milwaukee is home to a thriving live entertainment scene, featuring national touring concerts, theater productions, comedy shows, festivals, conventions, and large public gatherings. Venues like the Miller High Life Theatre and the historic Pabst Theater host performances year-round, drawing audiences from across the region. Our Event Security Officers play a key role in supporting these events by monitoring assigned areas, assisting guests, identifying potential safety concerns, and communicating effectively with event leadership.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in customer service, hospitality, public safety, campus events, security, retail, military, corrections, or anyone who enjoys working with people in an active event setting. Event Security work is available year-round on an as-needed basis, with schedules based on event needs.
What You’ll Do
As an Event Security Officer, you will help maintain a safe and positive environment by:
· Providing professional, friendly, and helpful service to guests, clients, vendors, and event staff.
· Monitoring assigned areas to help prevent theft, policy violations, disorderly conduct, unauthorized access, or unsafe conditions.
· Assisting guests with general event information, including directions to seating areas, restrooms, parking, medical stations, concessions, vendor areas, and other venue locations.
· Observing crowd movement and identifying potential risks before they escalate.
· Reporting incidents, suspicious activity, safety concerns, or policy violations to the appropriate supervisor or management team.
· Conducting routine patrols of assigned areas, including doors, gates, entry points, restricted areas, concourses, and perimeter locations.
· Checking doors, windows, gates, access points, and assigned posts to confirm proper function and security.
· Communicating clearly and professionally by radio or other approved communication methods.
· Protecting client, venue, vendor, and company property.
· Following all company policies, post orders, safety procedures, venue rules, and client expectations.
· Remaining alert, mentally engaged, and professional throughout the event.
· Properly using and caring for company-issued equipment, including radios, flashlights, uniforms, technology, and other assigned items.
· Performing additional duties as assigned based on event needs.
Schedule and Work Environment
This is an event-based position, which means schedules may vary from week to week depending on Milwaukee-area event calendars. Shifts may include:
· Evenings
· Weekends
· Holidays
· Theater and live entertainment events
· Concerts and entertainment events
· Festivals and community events
· Conventions and private events
· Outdoor events in changing Wisconsin weather conditions
This role may require working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, or other inclement weather. Candidates should be comfortable standing, walking, and remaining alert for extended periods.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
· Ability to work professionally in a customer-service-driven environment.
· Strong attention to detail and awareness of surroundings.
· Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in high-volume or fast-paced event settings.
· Strong verbal communication skills.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, post orders, and safety procedures.
· Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
· Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to arrive prepared before the assigned event start time.
· Ability to comply with company grooming, uniform, and dress code standards.
· Ability to pass all required background screening.
· Ability to obtain and maintain any Wisconsin security license, permit, or credential required for the assigned work location.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred, but not required:
· Prior experience in event security, guest services, hospitality, retail, public safety, campus events, military, corrections, or crowd management.
· Experience working large-scale events, athletic events, concerts, festivals, or public venues.
· Prior radio communication experience.
· Familiarity with Milwaukee-area venues, including the Miller High Life Theatre, the Pabst Theater, downtown Milwaukee events, or high-volume public gatherings.
· Current or previous Wisconsin security credential, if applicable.
Physical and Mental Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to:
· Stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more depending on the event.
· Sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, or work in elevated or confined spaces as needed.
· Occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 45 pounds.
· Work in crowded, loud, fast-paced, or high-energy environments.
· Maintain focus and situational awareness throughout the assigned shift.
· Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
