BAY Crawl Space & Foundation Repair is the highest-rated company in our local industry — 4.9 out of 5 stars from both customers and employees. We take exceptional care of our team and the homeowners we serve. At BAY, "Life's a Breeze."
The Role:
As our Permit Coordinator, you own every building and electrical permit that touches a BAY job — from application through final inspection. You'll handle permitting across dozens of city and county jurisdictions in Coastal Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, keeping approvals ahead of a production schedule that books two to eight weeks out. When permits move, crews move. This is the construction administration role that keeps our operation on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit building and electrical permit applications across multiple municipalities
- Track every open permit and keep production managers ahead of approval timelines
- Handle scheduling and coordinating inspections between jurisdiction inspectors and our field crews
- Coordinate electrical permits with our in-house licensed electrical contractors
- Maintain jurisdiction compliance — know each locality's submittal requirements, fees, and turnaround times
- Resolve failed or delayed building inspections quickly — corrections, re-submittals, follow-up, etc.
- Close out permits and final inspections
What We're Looking For
- Experience with residential construction permitting or permit expediting — or strong administrative and coordination experience plus the drive to learn it fast
- Comfortable being the point of contact with building officials, plan reviewers, and inspectors — professional, persistent, diplomatic
- Strong organizational skills; you can juggle 30+ open permit applications without dropping one
- Solid computer skills — Microsoft Office, online permit portals, CRM/scheduling software
- Self-starter who works well inside a team and communicates proactively when something is at risk
- Kind, hard-working, and easy to be around
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Background as a permit technician, permit specialist, or construction office administrator
- Familiarity with Hampton Roads or northeastern North Carolina building departments
- Experience with the Virginia Residential Code, NEC, or local code compliance processes
