Staff Tax Accountant with a financial services firm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Research and interpret tax regulations to identify compliance requirements and uncover tax planning opportunities for clients.
- Provide strategic tax planning and consulting to clients, including advising on tax implications of business transactions and restructuring activities.
- Analyze financial data and develop tax projections to assist clients in making informed financial decisions.
- Manage client relationships as the primary point of contact for tax-related inquiries and concerns.
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and optimization of tax strategies.
- Utilize tax preparation software such as Ultra Tax and other financial analysis tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
- Assist in identifying tax savings opportunities by reviewing client financial data and transactions.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely completion of tax filings and related deliverables.
- Support internal audit and compliance efforts when necessary, with a focus on adherence to multi-state tax codes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Master’s in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.
- CPA license and/or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant tax and accounting experience.
- Proven ability to independently complete complex tax returns without supervisory review.
- Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax codes and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with tax software such as Ultra Tax and Accounting CS; experience with financial analysis tools is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
