Summary
Earl Harris Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. The Kindergarten Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of young learners.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans that align with the curriculum.
- Support classroom management by helping to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
- Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts and provide individualized support as needed.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources.
- Supervise students during playtime, lunch, and other activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive school community.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of early childhood education.
- Help with administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and maintaining student records.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to assess student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Support the implementation of behavioral management strategies to promote positive behavior in the classroom.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Basic knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software is a plus.
- Background check and clearance as required by state regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
