Parish Missionary
The Missionary Hub at St. Katharine Drexel Parish
Title: Parish Missionary (Spanish bilingual highly-preferred)

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and its entities is a Roman Catholic religious organization, and employees are expected to respect and conduct themselves in accordance with the values, teachings, and morals of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Parish Missionary promotes the mission of the Church through evangelization, community outreach, and spiritual formation. The role centers on drawing non-Catholics, non-practicing Catholics, and registered parishioners into a living relationship with Jesus Christ and into the life of the parish. The Missionary reports to the Missionary Hub Director and works in close collaboration with the Pastor of St. Katharine Drexel and the Strategy Office of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Evangelization
- Draw others into personal friendship with Jesus in the life of the Church through one-on-one accompaniment, small groups, and larger programming.
- Identify, form, and equip practicing Catholics as missionary disciples for outreach to those outside the Church, helping build and accompany the parish’s cohort of lay missionary leaders.
- Organize and lead events and initiatives that reach the community and create welcoming on-ramps into the parish.
Community Engagement
- Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and community groups in Chester to promote collaboration and outreach.
- Identify the needs of the parish and develop programs to address them, with particular attention to marginalized populations and the Spanish-speaking community.
Spiritual Formation
- Prioritize prayer individually and throughout all activities.
- Facilitate encounters, workshops, retreats, and groups that deepen the spiritual growth of parishioners.
- Assist in preparing individuals and families for the sacraments, offering guidance and follow-up accompaniment through and beyond the sacramental moment.
Volunteer Coordination
- Collaborate with leaders across parish ministries, helping grow and sustain the active volunteer base.
- Participate in organizing and hosting moments, events, and initiatives designed to foster a spirit of service and shared responsibility for mission among parishioners.
Communication
- Collaborate with the Hub Director and parish staff to keep parishioners informed about events, programs, and opportunities for involvement, in both English and Spanish where possible.
- Use the parish bulletin, the Hub’s digital presence at stkatharinedrexelparish.org, social media, and Mass announcements to keep the community engaged.
Collaboration
- Work closely with parish staff, councils, and committees to align efforts with the Hub-Parish’s Mission, Vision, and Apostolic Priorities of 1) parish unity, 2) youth, young adults, and family life, and 3) shared responsibility for mission.
- Participate in the weekly Hub team huddle and regular planning meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and new initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and practices.
- Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in community outreach, education, or pastoral ministry preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- A proactive and compassionate attitude toward serving others.
- Knowledge of or experience in mission work and alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with MSOffice software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred.
- Passion for life as a Catholic, including a committed prayer life and frequent reception of the sacraments.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

- Some nights and weekends will be required.
