We are excited to announce an opening for a Certified Veterinary Surgery Technician (Surgery CVT) who is passionate about animal health and surgical excellence! As a Surgery CVT, you will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient care, and maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique. Duties
- Assist veterinary surgeons during complex surgical procedures by preparing surgical instruments, monitoring anesthesia, and maintaining a sterile environment
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and team members
- Administer medications, including IV injections and other routes, following precise veterinary protocols
- Monitor anesthesia levels using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment, adjusting as needed to maintain patient stability
- Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws, phlebotomy, and diagnostic sample collection for testing purposes
- Operate medical equipment including radiology devices, X-ray machines, and other diagnostic tools to support accurate imaging diagnostics
- Provide comprehensive pet care including dental procedures utilizing dental terminology and assisting with pet grooming when necessary
Experience
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a focus on surgical assistance and critical care environments
- Kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills that demonstrate comfort handling various species and breeds
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and emergency medicine protocols
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, vascular access, animal catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record-keeping and client communication
- Laboratory experience involving diagnostic radiology, pet grooming, radiology diagnostics, and general anesthesia management
- Prior exposure to equine or large animal procedures is advantageous but not required; a willingness to learn is essential
