American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment requiring an active IL RN license and 2 years of experience.

Acute care Medical/Surgical unit spanning two floors (2 South: 18 beds, 3 South: 22 beds)
-
Patient population includes medical acute cases such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic and general surgery, total joints, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
-
PCT support available with ratios of 1:8-10 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights, with expected 3x daily touchpoints for care collaboration

Uses Epic EMR
-
RNs are not required to titrate drips
-
RT equipment includes Bi-pap (home regimen, stable/alert patients) and High-flow
-
Tele monitoring performed with Phillips monitors, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring; RNs read their own strips

12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday rotation required, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's (Eve shifts for nights)

Low census notification given 4 hours in advance and re-evaluated every 4 hours

May float to ICU for general acute overflow or to Ottawa Campus (25 miles away) with at least 2 hours notice

Unit-specific orientation typically lasts 3 shifts

Active IL RN license required
-
BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required; PALS preferred

Minimum 2 years of experience preferred

Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Negative drug screen required for all panels

Provide direct nursing care including foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care in collaboration with PCTs
-
Oversee and collaborate with PCTs to ensure patient cares and plan of care are completed
-
Charge Nurse and Administrative Supervisor present on each shift; Charge Nurse carries an assignment of 1-2 patients
-
Solid color scrubs required, no prints

Local candidates accepted; local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
