Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and efficiently manage appointment scheduling using patient management software
- Prepare and update electronic medical records (EMR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist dental practitioners during procedures by managing dental instruments, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection prevention management standards
- Take and process dental X-ray images, including digital radiography and panoramic X-ray, adhering to proper safety protocols for radiation exposure
- Support or provide chairside assisting during pediatric dentistry procedures
- Manage patient flow by ensuring a comfortable experience for pediatric patients and their parents
- Handle administrative tasks, including answering phones, confirming appointments, processing insurance claims, and maintaining organized medical documentation and records
Preference
- Some experience as a Dental Assistant or Administrative Dental Assistant in a dental clinic setting
- Proficiency with Open Dental software, or similar patient management platforms
- Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and infection control procedures, including sterilization protocols and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures, dental imaging technology, and radiography safety standards
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques in pediatric dentistry environments
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and empathy
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention policies aligned with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality requirements
