Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fabrication Shop Supervisor to join our team in Norfolk, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for management of Continental Tide facilities, fabrication shop, personnel, and equipment. Desired applicants possess experience with NAVSEA welding, fitting and fabrication processes, as well as a strong work ethic, dedication, and aspiration to excel.
Essential duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop Cost Estimates | Labor | Material | Outside Services
- Develop Daily Production Sked
- Monitor Physical Progress
- Work with SubKs as required
- Train welders and fitters to Continental Tide processes
- Work with Quality Program on welding procedures and process improvements and maintenance
- Provide Progress Reports to Continental Tide Leadership
- Maintains the Fabrication Ship in a high degree of cleanliness and organization status
- Develops a routine schedule for both Fabrication Shop Equipment maintenance
- Provide semi-annual report for improvements
- Routine Facility Tasking Support. POC for deliveries and returns, as well as assisting in tracking of gas bottles utilized for fabrication.
- Assist with facilities maintenance/ minor repair as required
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company procedures & guidelines.
- Perform additional duties outside of your standard responsibilities as needed to support project completion.

- Ability to work independently and execute multiple assigned tasks.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree
- 7-10 years of direct experience with metal fabrication and a variety of machining equipment operation
- Ability to read and interpret shipboard installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.
- Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
- Monitor compliance with company Quality and Safety Management Systems, Workmanship standards and Customer requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to open-air environments, including noisy, hot, and cold conditions.
- Required to visit project sites aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore.
- Must wear various types of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing, eye, head, and hand protection, as required.
- Site visits may involve standing on a variety of surfaces and angles, bending, crouching, and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge or boat structural components.
- Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.
- Must possess sufficient visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and night vision to inspect marine components and systems, identify defects or irregularities, and safely operate tools and equipment.
- May work in confined spaces with limited ventilation.
- Requires prolonged periods of sedentary work, including sitting and/or standing.
- May be required to operate machinery, power tools, and/or heavy equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively to exchange and comprehend information.
- Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions, including high heat and extreme cold.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on the task requirements.
