Food Safety & Safety Specialist
Location: Delano & Rich Grove, CA
(Floating between both, ~6 miles apart)
Pay: $18.00 – $20.00/hr
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
This hybrid role combines Food Safety Officer and Safety Specialist responsibilities across two facilities during the fruit packing season (typically July – December).
Food Safety Duties: Enforce GAPs, GHPs, HACCP, QA, and Food Safety Programs
Train and educate employees on food safety and sanitation practices
Conduct internal inspections of harvest/packing crew and cold storage Assist with third-party audits and inspections Collect fruit samples; distribute, collect, and file all food safety forms
Safety Duties: Conduct safety trainings — PPE, LOTO, Fall Protection, Forklift, CPR/First Aid, Respirator Fit Testing, and more Daily and monthly packinghouse inspections
Maintain SDS, PSM/RMP binders, and chemical inventory
Fill out injury reports and investigate accidents
Field inspections for water, shade, and safe working conditions
Translate safety documents English/Spanish
Requirements: Bilingual English/Spanish
Min. 6 months experience in food safety/QA in a production environment
Knowledge of Federal/State safety laws and regulations
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
Valid CA Driver's License Flexible availability — early mornings, extended hours, weekends
