Role Overview:
We are looking for a Fashion Editorial Writer Intern to join our editorial team. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate writer to sharpen their voice, develop thought-provoking content, and gain real editorial experience within an international magazine platform. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for fashion, a pulse on African and diasporic trends, and is unafraid to challenge conventional industry takes with bold, research-backed writing.
Responsibilities:
- Pitch and write compelling fashion stories that align with Afrique Noire’s ethos
- Research and report on emerging designers, fashion movements, and cultural shifts across the continent and the diaspora
- Assist in writing and curating fashion features for our biannual print and digital issues
- Collaborate with editors and designers to shape narrative direction and visual tone
- Contribute to Afrique Noire’s digital content strategy, including social and newsletter content
- Stay informed on global and local fashion events, cultural conversations, and Black fashion history
- Maintain deadlines and respond to editorial feedback professionally
What We’re Looking For:
- A strong, distinct writing voice with an understanding of storytelling in fashion journalism
- Deep interest in African and diasporic fashion, art, and cultural aesthetics
- Strong research skills and an ability to draw links between fashion, identity, and socio-political issues
- Ability to work independently and manage time in a remote, deadline-driven environment
- Experience writing for a blog, magazine, or editorial platform is a plus
