A private family in the Park City area is looking for a dependable caregiver to support their 18-year-old son, who has significant developmental disabilities. He's non-verbal in the conversational sense but expressive, social, and genuinely enjoys being around people. He attends school during the day and is happiest when he's out doing things rather than sitting at home.
This is a long-term, one-on-one position. You would be the primary afternoon and evening support, taking over after school and handling the routine through bedtime.
Schedule
- Monday - Thursday: 2:30pm - 7:30pm
- Friday: 11:30am - 7:30pm
- Saturday and Sunday: full days, every other weekend
That's roughly 30 hours on a standard week and around 40 hours on a weekend week. The weekday schedule is fixed and predictable. Some flexibility on school holidays and breaks.
What you'd be doing
- Picking him up from school and supervising the afternoon
- Getting him out into the community, outings, & activities
- Preparing and serving dinner
- Personal care, including bathing, toileting and incontinence care
- Handling the full bedtime routine
- Communicating with the family about how the day went
What we're looking for
- Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities, in a paid or volunteer capacity
- A valid driver's license, clean record, and your own reliable vehicle
- Patience, warmth, and a steady temperament
- Comfort working independently without someone looking over your shoulder
- Willingness to complete a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement
- A high degree of reliability and dependability in showing up
