Overview
Our Security Officer will work directly with our retail locations to maintain a safe and
secure environment for our customers and employees. The Security Officer serves as a
visible security presence throughout the dispensary, monitors access and activity, assists
with asset protection and loss prevention, responds to incidents, and supports the
dispensary's compliance with applicable Illinois cannabis regulations and company
policies.
Responsibilities
- Verify customer age and identification prior to entry, in accordance with Illinois law and company policy.
- Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the facility.
- Monitor the premises for suspicious activity, safety hazards, theft, vandalism, or other security concerns.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to security, safety, and emergency situations.
- De-escalate confrontational situations using professional communication and sound judgment
- Contact law enforcement, emergency services, or management when circumstances require escalation.
- Assist with emergency procedures, evacuations, medical incidents, and other emergencies.
- Complete incident reports accurately and objectively when necesarrRequirements
- Proven experience in security roles, law enforcement, military service or related fields demonstrating strong physical security skills.
- Knowledge of CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, incident report writing, and emergency response procedures.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, AED operation, Taser use (if applicable), and firearm handling are highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of compliance with security regulations and protocols to ensure lawful operations at all times.
- Ability to remain alert during long shifts through vigilant patrolling and surveillance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and meet applicable Illinois cannabis-industry employment requirements.
- Must be able to work assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to maintain a professional, respectful, and customer-service-oriented demeanor.
- Must demonstrate strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
- Must be able to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful or confrontational situations.
- Must be able to follow company policies, security procedures, and management direction.
- Previous cannabis dispensary security experience preferred
- Valid Illinois PERC Card preferred
- Experience working in a retail or customer-facing environment preferred
Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
