PCU is a 20-bed unit capable of monitoring patients via central telemetry 24 hours a day . PCU serves as a place for the monitoring and care of patients age 16 to geriatric with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support.
Performs care requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Provides direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Monitors and documents vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other patient information accurately.
Assists patients with daily living activities including hygiene, mobility, feeding, repositioning, and comfort needs while promoting dignity and safety.
Supports admissions, transfers, discharges, and department-specific clinical procedures as directed.
Observes and reports changes in patient condition or concerns to the nursing team promptly.
Collects specimens and assists with routine patient care procedures.
Delivers compassionate, patient-centered service to patients, families, and visitors.
Maintains compliance with hospital safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
