Description
The YMCA is currently accepting applications for energetic, confident, and friendly staff members to work in the Sports Department as Sports Officials.
The Sports Officials is responsible for enforcing all YMCA rules, policies, and game regulations while maintaining a safe, fair, and positive environment for all participants.
The Sports Officials will officiate games as needed and is responsible for following the Sports Official Code of Conduct, applying the rules of play, and making fair decisions throughout the game. As the main representative on the court or field, the referee must maintain control of the game, communicate effectively with players and coaches, and make quick decisions using good judgment.
The Sports Officials may also assist with setting up and taking down equipment, helping maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility or field, and supporting the Sports Director with additional duties as assigned.
Days & Hours
Saturdays and some weeknights. The schedule varies depending on the number of leagues and teams.
REQUIREMENTS:

Must understand the basic principles of sports programs such as basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball.

Incumbent should be able to communicate with players, coaches and parents effectively, maintain a courteous, friendly attitude and be a positive role model.
- Ability to make sound decisions and judgments even when distracted by noise and activity.

Position may require repetitive stooping and bending and the candidate should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is also required.
- Visual acuity is required for monitoring potential hazards for children.

Must be energetic, enthusiastic and have the motivation to share that energy with all the sports participants.
- Must possess a strong understanding of the YMCA and its mission as well as have a strong desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community.
- Must attend provided trainings including First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA.
