On-Site Manager (Filling/Capping Machinery Installation) - 80%+ Travel (IN +Out of state)

Serac Inc. is a global OEM of filling, capping, and cup-filling packaging machinery. We build the equipment, and our field teams put it to work at customer plants across the country and abroad.
The Job
This is a travel-heavy, field-based role. As On-Site Manager, you move between different customer manufacturing sites and take charge on the ground at each one. You lead the field service technicians on site, coordinate installation, commissioning, rebuild, and retrofit projects from start to finish, and keep a mixed crew of Serac techs, third-party OEM staff, and contractors safe, on schedule, and compliant. Expect to be deployed on-site 2 to 4 weeks at a time, then move to the next project.
Day to Day
- Travel to customer sites across the U.S. and internationally, running one project after another on the ground.
- Lead the field service technicians on site, directing the crew and owning day-to-day execution.
- Lead installation and commissioning of new filling-capping machines, up to full lines.
- Manage rebuild and retrofit work on existing equipment.
- Enforce site safety and OSHA / GMP food safety compliance.
- Hit and document milestones against the plan.
- Write professional daily reports: site activity, issues, customer schedule, tech hours.
- Handle technician concerns and escalate internally when needed.
- Communicate constantly with the Serac project manager.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years installing packaging machines, filling and capping preferred (OEM machine-builder experience).
- 5+ years leading on-site field teams of mixed suppliers and backgrounds.
- Hands-on automation: electrical circuitry, PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), computer-based controls (e.g. Isagraf), pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
- Strong communicator who can lead customer meetings and keep detailed records. Spanish or French a plus.
- Ready to travel 80%+, work weekends and overtime, and deploy 2 to 4 weeks at a time across multiple sites.
- Associate degree in engineering or equivalent field experience.
Pay
$55-$65 Hourly, depending on experience.
Physical Requirements
Largely on-site work at rotating customer locations. Must lift up to 50 lbs and bend, kneel, walk, or sit for extended periods. Air and auto travel, domestic and international, required.
