Duties
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently while adhering to all pharmaceutical regulations and safety standards
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy and monitor responses
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including acute pain management and oncology protocols
- Manage IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding in compliance with hospital policies
- Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) to document medication orders, inventory, and patient records precisely
- Precept pharmacy residents and interns, fostering professional growth and clinical expertise
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance through meticulous documentation and adherence to drug regulation standards
- Provide expert consultation on critical care scenarios such as Level I Trauma Center cases, Level II trauma center experience, PICU cases, ICU situations, and emergency room interventions
- Support hospital medicine units by managing medication administration processes efficiently
- Participate in ongoing education on physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology to stay current with industry best practices
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacy operations within hospital environments including ICU, PICU, emergency rooms, and trauma centers
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and drug regulation standards
- Proven experience in managed care settings with a focus on patient service excellence
- Hands-on experience with critical care medications such as acute pain management drugs and oncology treatments
- Proficiency in hospital pharmacy information systems (PIS) for medication dispensing and record-keeping
- Skilled in aseptic technique for sterile compounding and IV infusion preparation
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments utilizing physiology knowledge and medical terminology expertise
- Experience with medication administration protocols across pediatric, adult, and specialized patient populations
- Capable of precepting students or residents while demonstrating leadership in pharmacy practice
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy workflows involving drug regulation compliance and post-residency clinical experience
