School Location: Central High School
Nurse Teacher Summer Learning Program 2026 (up to 1 position)
Prep Dates [NOT PD DAYS]: TBD
Program Dates: July 20, 2026 - July 30, 2026
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
$40.00 per hour (Contingent upon funding)
Provide health care services for students in the school setting, maintain student health records according to state regulations, perform health screenings, and maintain the health and welfare of the students.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in school nursing from an accredited college or university.
-
Current license to practice as a registered nurse.
-
Successful experience as a registered nurse for a minimum of 3 years
-
CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
RIDE Requirements:
-
School Nurse Teacher Certificate
ESL Preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
-
Prior experience in a nursing position, especially in an urban setting (preferred)
-
Excellent communication skills
-
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work effectively with others
-
Ability to work under pressure
PK-12 Nurse must have:
- CPR Certification First Aid Certification
- Valid Rhode Island driver’s license

Current Healthcare Provider Insurance required

Deal with student medical needs, some complex

Provide treatment, as needed, to students, staff members, and parents in an effective and courteous manner

Adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations

Maintain confidentiality of protected health information

Must commit to working all days of program
