American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel position in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, ACLS/BLS certification, and the ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting.

Acute care hospital setting in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown), under the Critical Care service line with Hospitalist oversight
-
Patient population includes cardiovascular and cardiac surgery patients, including post-cath lab, post-open heart surgery (STEMI, NSTEMI), chronic vents, BiPAP/CPAP, thoracotomies, renal disease, alcohol withdrawal, and suicidal ideation

Unit capacity of 14 beds (up to 20 with double occupancy); nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4 depending on acuity

Specialized procedures include IV cardiac medication administration, peritoneal dialysis, chest tube management, epidural catheter care, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, and arterial/venous sheath pulling and care

Equipment includes Philips Cardiac Monitors, telemetry, Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitors, invasive monitoring, Medtronic Pacemakers, Pyxis medication dispensers, Zoll R Series, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Mistral Air Warming units

Charting via Cerner EMR

12-hour shifts (7A–7P or 7P–7A), 3 shifts per week; days are primary schedule

Every other weekend (EOW) required

First to float; floating to ICU preferred, and to MS/Tele required — arterial lines and sheath pulls required for float

13-week contract
-
Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; minimum 1 year of PCU experience required

Strong EKG/dysrhythmia knowledge required

Experience with IV cardiac medication administration required

Experience with arterial/venous sheath pulls, arterial lines, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, peritoneal dialysis, and chronic vent management required

Cerner EMR experience required

Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) within two attempts prior to contract confirmation

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration

Provide acute cardiac and cardiac surgical nursing care in a fast-paced PCU environment

Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (based on driver's license permanent address) to be eligible for this position

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit Health, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

A sterile technique skills test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation

Navy scrubs and business-appropriate hair color are required

Orientation is 12 hours
