Duties
- Assist in menu planning and meal preparation, ensuring adherence to recipes and portion sizes
- Prepare food items using proper knife skills, slicing techniques, and cooking methods to ensure quality and consistency
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness standards by cleaning workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances regularly
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures and safety standards in production
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service
- Support catering functions by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality standards
- Serve meals to customers or clients in a professional manner, ensuring satisfaction and proper presentation
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong background in food service, restaurant work, or the food industry with culinary experience preferred
- Knowledge of menu planning, food safety management, and recipe adherence
- Skilled in food preparation techniques including slicing, cooking, and portioning
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with cleaning protocols and safety standards in food production environments
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and service personnel
- Previous experience in senior living a plus
