Job Summary
We are a small, bustling sushi restaurant looking for a versatile and energetic Server Assistant to join our team. In this hybrid role, you will be the backbone of our dining service by assisting servers, managing online orders, and maintaining our dish station. For the right candidate, this is an excellent opportunity to learn the ropes of sushi service with the potential to cross-train and pick up shifts as a Server on an as-needed basis!
Key Responsibilities
- Server Assistance: Assist waitstaff with running food, refilling beverages, pre-bussing tables, and ensuring dining areas are clean and reset for the next guests.
- Online Order Management: Monitor incoming online and delivery orders, double-check orders for accuracy, and package them neatly for delivery drivers or takeout customers.
- Dishwashing & Sanitation: Assist with washing dishes, glassware, and sushi prep tools as needed to keep the back of the house running smoothly during peak hours.
- Customer Service: Greet guests warmly, answer basic menu questions, and act as a bridge between the front and back of house.
- Cross-Training/Server Role: Cover server shifts on an as-needed basis (e.g., during busy weekends or staff absences).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service setting (experience in Japanese cuisine/sushi is a plus!).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and switch seamlessly between taking orders, packing takeout, and washing dishes.
- Strong team player with a "no task is too small" attitude.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift/carry up to $[25-40] lbs.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
