GLO Resources is hiring a Risk Management and General Counsel to work in Baton Rouge, LA. The pay ranges between $175,000 and $185,000 per year experience dependent. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM with overtime as needed.
Position Summary
This role provides executive-level legal guidance while developing strategies to protect company assets, mitigate risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support long-term business growth.The Risk Management and General Counsel will serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, partnering across the organization to strengthen governance, manage complex legal matters, improve operational resilience, and align legal strategy with overall business objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide executive leadership over legal, risk management, compliance, insurance, and corporate governance functions.
- Develop and implement enterprise risk management strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with company objectives.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic risks.
- Serve as the primary internal legal advisor to executive leadership and business units.
- Provide guidance on corporate governance, contracts, compliance, employment matters, litigation, and business operations.
- Lead contract review, negotiation, and risk allocation for agreements with clients, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and strategic partners.
- Manage outside legal counsel, litigation strategy, dispute resolution, and legal expenditures.
- Oversee corporate insurance programs, claims management, and risk transfer strategies.
- Lead legal and risk due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations impacting company operations.
- Develop and maintain corporate policies, procedures, and internal controls supporting compliance and risk management.
- Prepare executive-level risk assessments, reports, and presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Build and lead high-performing legal, risk management, insurance, and compliance teams.
- Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and proactive risk management throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Louisiana or eligible for admission through reciprocity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, Associate General Counsel, Risk Management Executive, or similar leadership role.
- Strong background in corporate, commercial, construction, or business law.
- Experience supporting construction, heavy civil, industrial, marine, infrastructure, engineering, or related industries preferred.
- Proven experience managing enterprise risk programs, complex contracts, litigation, insurance programs, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting construction and related industries.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to provide practical business solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Must maintain active membership and good standing with the applicable State Bar Association.
- Must successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and driving record review.
