McCrone Associates, Inc., a Chicagoland analytical laboratory, is seeking a scientist skilled in using one or more light microscopy techniques (e.g. analytical polarized light, confocal laser microscopy, circular polarized light, light sheet microscopy). Our microscopists use polarized light microscopy and other microanalytical techniques to identify materials and contaminants in samples to help our clients answer materials analysis questions. This position requires project management, clear communication of scientific results to clients, and working in teams with scientists and support staff.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s or doctorate degree (or equivalent work experience) in applied chemistry, forensic science, petrology, or materials science with five or more years of relevant, hands-on laboratory experience using light microscopy.
- Expertise in spectroscopy, including IR and Raman, is highly desired. Experience in consulting and materials analysis for industrial problem-solving and working in cGMP and ISO 17025 regulated laboratories are also desired.

Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong software skills with instrument operation and Microsoft Office applications are essential.

This is a full-time in-person analytical laboratory position in Westmont, Illinois. Hybrid and/or remote work arrangements are not available for this laboratory-based position.

Salary Range: $80K-$110K commensurate with education and applicable experience.

This position is eligible for annual, performance-based salary and bonus review.
