A+ After School/Summer Camp Program is a structured, enrichment program for K-5th graders. We provide students a safe environment to grow academically and behaviorally by teaching the ways of respect, focus, and discipline as they learn martial arts. We are ranked one of the top After School/Summer Camp Programs in Fayette County-Lexington. We take great pride in what we do as we aim to inspire one student at a time.
Our Summer Camp Lead is responsible for supervising and leading elementary students in a structured, safe, and disciplined environment. This role blends classroom management, martial arts culture, mentorship, and operational accountability. This is not a babysitting position. We are developing character, discipline, and leadership.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or above
- Must have reliable transportation with valid state driver's license
- Professional conduct: strict on attendance, dependability and punctuality as it is an extremely time-sensitive duty to pick up students and follow a safe driving protocol
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, personal accountability, professional appearance
- Must have experience in child care/handling large group of kids
- Make sound judgment by effectively intervening to prevent unsafe situations, minimize disruptions, and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
- Maintain a safe environment by monitoring children’s behavior and implementing effective behavior management strategies.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques with excellent organization and supervisory skills prioritizing safety, structure, enrichment and engagement (i.e. safety awareness, commanding presence without yelling, instructional clarity, emotional awareness)
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
- Strong people skills and excellent communication skills with children, parents, and teammates
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to enhance the overall educational experience
- Demonstrate ownership of responsibilities and actions
- Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor adventures.
- Able to work 4 +hour shifts Monday-Friday (longer hours available with experience)
- Must clean and maintain classroom/activity rooms
- Prior martial arts experience (not required but coachable candidates considered)
- Compensation commensurate with experience
SKILLS:
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and guide children effectively
- Proficiency in behavior management strategies
- Knowledge of childhood development principles
- First aid certification is a plus
- Ability to educate and engage children effectively
- Strong classroom management skills
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and child safety protocols.
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, or early childhood education.
Pay: $15.00 - $35.00 per hour
