We are hiring a: Machinist I
Columbia, MO
The Machinist provides support for machining operations of products and assemblies using manual and/or CNC machine tools, and performs preventive maintenance on machines, dies, molds, fixtures, and tools. This role works under the general direction of a more experienced team member, routing complex questions to the appropriate person while building toward greater independence. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, adheres to established procedures and best practices, and is able to work individually as well as in a team environment.
What You’ll Do
- Machine Operation: Run CNC machines, mills, drills, lathes, saws, shears, presses, punches, and drill presses.
- Manual Machining: Set up and run basic manual machines to produce parts, dies, molds, and fixtures.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Maintain machines, sharpen tools, and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Print Reading & Process Design: Read and interpret basic prints, draw sketches, correct prints, and design step-by-step work processes.
- Documentation: Complete process and load sheet documentation accurately and on time.
- Problem Solving: Work under direct supervision on standardized tasks, resolving routine questions and problems while referring more complex issues to senior Machinists.
- Teamwork: Work effectively both individually and as part of a team, demonstrating Watlow’s values, behaviors, and principles.
What You’ll Need to Succeed?
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer systems
- Ability to learn new skills, follow directions, and adhere to policies, procedures, and best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Trade jobs: two-year degree, technical certificate, or related experience (1-3 years) preferred
