RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and performs echocardiographic and vascular examinations on patients and collaborates with physicians on examinations.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, sitting, standing.
- Continuous: reaching at or below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motion, static gripping of object for prolonged.
- Frequent: stooping/bending, pushing/pulling maximum weight of 20 pounds of force.
- Occasional: kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting and carrying weight of 10 pounds up to 20 pounds.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Subjected to inside environmental condition (i.e., low light setting).
- Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Board registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS).
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification desired.
B. EXPERIENCE:
- Prior recent experience as a cardiac and/or vascular sonographer in an acute health care facility preferred.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team.
