We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Sourcing & Inventory Management Specialist to support operations at our pet supplement manufacturing facility in Topeka, Kansas. This role is responsible for sourcing raw materials and packaging components, maintaining accurate inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production flow.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor. Experience in manufacturing, supplements, food production, pet products, or inventory control is highly preferred.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Source, negotiate pricing, and purchase raw materials, packaging, and production supplies
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Work with the QA department to develop, and manage a vendor qualification program for the company
- Maintain current pricing in the quote tool
- Obtain pricing for ingredients on short notice to generate quotes for clients
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate inventory records
- Coordinate incoming shipments and verify material accuracy and quality
- Work closely with production teams to ensure materials are available for scheduled manufacturing runs
- Track lead times, pricing, and supplier performance
- Assist with forecasting inventory needs based on production schedules
- Conduct routine inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
- Support warehouse organization and inventory optimization efforts
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and purchasing procedures
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Assist with ERP or inventory management system updates and reporting
Qualifications
- Requires successful completion of a drug screen, background check, and physical capacity test
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain operations
- Experience in manufacturing, supplements, food production, nutraceuticals, or pet products preferred
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience with ERP or inventory management software preferred
- Strong communication and vendor negotiation skills
- Forklift experience is a plus but not required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds, including above the head and push/pull up to one hundred (100) pounds using tote dollies and platform trucks.
- Ability to perform physical activities which require considerable use of arms, legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, squatting, and bending while handling various materials.
- Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to tolerate exposure to food allergens.
Work Environment:
- Duties are performed in a professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office setting or production/warehouse facility, dependent on type of job duty performed.
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and food allergens.
- Interaction with staff, customers, and suppliers.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
