The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Controller and works collaboratively with program and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely financial information. He/she is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the organization and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. He/she performs accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and assists with month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in nonprofit accounting practices. Accounts Payable • Process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements. • Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, and certificates of insurance. • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status. • Record cash disbursements and online payments. • Assist with tracking outstanding payables. Accounts Receivable • Record cash receipts, deposits, and grant reimbursements. • Assist with tracking outstanding receivables. • Support preparation of grant reimbursement requests, as needed. General Accounting • Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger. • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities. • Maintain electronic and paper financial records. Payroll Support • Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations.
Education & Experience Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred. Experience with MIP Fund Accounting or similar accounting software preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly MS Excel. Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
