Job Description and Duties
SKILLED LABORER (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – DISTRICT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT / STATEWIDE CREWS / McCLELLAN
The reporting location for this position is 4940 Lang Ave in McClellan, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Park Maintenance Chief III.
This Skilled Laborer will perform miscellaneous skilled maintenance, various housekeeping, grounds keeping and minor maintenance tasks. The skilled laborer will answer routine questions from the public as necessary and will complete miscellaneous reports. May lead and train less experienced maintenance personnel with maintenance and construction activities. May lead a crew of seasonal employees, and Youth Corps crews that perform maintenance and construction activities. This position will frequently work from remote locations to efficiently completing task assignments. This position is required to work nights, weekends and odd hours and overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks. This position will also spike camp at work sites outside throughout the State.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class,expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
Extensive travel and long-term project coordination at any State Park may be required.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM from Wednesday to Wednesday
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Working Conditions
This job includes the ability to perform a variety of heavy manual labor work to restore and maintain state park resources and facilities, and requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, smoky conditions related to prescribed fire, hiking over uneven and steep terrain, and carrying heavy loads. This position requires traveling statewide for extended periods of time. The position also requires working nights, weekends, odd hours and overtime to accomplish assigned tasks. This position is required to spike camp outside in remote sites throughout the California State Park system.
