What You'll Do
The Cost Accountant assists with month end and year end closing of financials, with particular focus on balancing inventory and recording monthly entries for transfers and variances. This person calculates and analyzes gross profit margins and reports results to Finance and Operations, and works with manufacturing plants on cycle count processes, labor and overhead rates, bills of materials, and routings. The role includes applying cost analysis principles to inventory management, gross profit, and reporting processes, analyzing manufacturing costs and labor absorption to identify variances and areas for improvement, and assisting in the calculation of work center rates for manufacturing facilities. The Cost Accountant reviews completed shop orders, analyzes significant variances, and identifies potential process changes, and performs the annual cost roll process, including change analysis, at year end and on an ad hoc basis as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, accounting preferred
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Cost accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Deacom, NetSuite, or Epicor)
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines

- Experience with QuickBooks
