JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
REPORTS TO: Group Home Manager and Assistant Manager
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age & have a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience is preferred but not required. Valid NJ Drivers License in good standing.
STATEMENT OF POSITION PURPOSE: To assist individuals with activities for daily and community living in accordance with the Agency & Division policies & to enhance the individual's capabilities and independence while advocating for their quality of life and rights as a person. To ensure the safety, health & well being of the individuals in their care through the accurate and consistent implementation of all plans.
RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. The DSP will be aware of and practice agency philosophy and agency policies & procedures during the course of supporting individuals.
2. The DSP will maintain the highest level of professionalism while carrying out the responsibilities of their position.
3. The DSP will assist the individuals, as needed, in daily and community living skills encouraging independence while enhancing the individuals own abilities. This may require support in grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, appearance, toileting, meal preparation, use of specialized equipment and other tasks dictated by the individuals level of independence, needs, desires, and wishes. This warrants taking into consideration universal standard precautions practiced by this agency.
4. The DSP will assist the individuals with daily needs of the group home. Including but not limited to housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, transportation, doctor visits, yard work & meal preparation in such a way to provide dignity of risk and to include the individuals as much as possible in these tasks.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
