Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer is a key member of the Product Team and serves as the primary quality representative for assigned product lines. This position is responsible for ensuring products meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, and internal quality standards while driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate has a strong background in quality management systems, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to evaluate and disposition nonconforming materials and customer returns.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D.
- Drive the resolution of internal quality issues and customer-reported nonconformances.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver training on quality systems, processes, and best practices.
- Partner with Product Group Managers to establish quality plans during product proposal, development, and launch phases.
- Participate in Change Review Board (CRB) meetings to ensure document revisions maintain compliance and product integrity.
- Review manufacturing processes to verify inspection points, acceptance test procedures (ATPs), and gauging requirements are appropriately defined and implemented.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans for receiving, in-process, assembly, final inspection, and testing operations.
- Support and participate in internal, customer, and AS9100 certification audits.
- Analyze quality metrics and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and defect reduction.
- Prepare and present quarterly quality performance reports to management.
- Conduct internal quality audits, issue Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor supplier quality performance, review purchase orders for quality requirements, and initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when necessary.
- Represent the Quality department on the Material Review Board (MRB).
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, including AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015.
- Proficiency with quality and problem-solving tools, including 5 Whys, FMEA, Control Plans, 8D, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Analysis, and statistical analysis techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and manage competing priorities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
- ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt are preferred.
Pay: Up to $130,000.00 per year
