Position Overview
The Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and heavy-duty trucks.
This role includes both shop work and field service, supporting active job sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and software
- Perform preventative maintenance (oil changes, fluid checks, filters, lubrication, inspections)
- Complete major repairs on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, air brake systems, and hydraulic components
- Service and repair heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and haul vehicles
- Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation
- Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with hydraulic systems and heavy machinery repair
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel to job sites for field repairs
- Trade school certification or Diesel Technology degree preferred (not required)
- Must have own basic hand tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (bending, kneeling, crawling)
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
