Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team at a busy grocery store. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, strong communication abilities, and experience with POS systems. This role offers an opportunity to engage with customers, ensure smooth transactions, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. Bilingual skills are a plus, helping us serve a diverse customer base effectively.
Duties
- Operate POS systems efficiently to process transactions accurately and quickly
- Handle cash, credit, and debit payments with precision and attention to detail
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly and assisting with inquiries
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
- Stock shelves and merchandise displays, ensuring products are well-organized and appealing
- Conduct product demos when applicable to inform customers about new or featured items
- Assist with merchandising and inventory management, including stocking shelves and organizing displays
- Maintain phone etiquette when answering customer questions or providing assistance over the phone
- Supervise or assist less experienced team members as needed in a supervisory capacity
Qualifications
- Prior cashiering experience in retail or grocery store environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Excellent communication skills, including clear phone etiquette and customer interaction
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and retail math calculations
- Experience with upselling, merchandising, stocking, and retail sales techniques beneficial
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse customers
- Supervising experience is advantageous but not required; leadership skills are valued
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal skills

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
