Title: Lab Manager
Location: Fargo, ND
Term: 12-month, full-time
Salary: $45,000-$50,000 Commensurate on experience
Start date: August 3, 2026
The NDSU Extension Soybean Pathology Lab is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee daily lab operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for isolations from diseased plants, identification and maintenance of the isolate collection, perform and assist with lab and greenhouse experiments, occasionally assist with field experiments, and supervise undergraduate student interns. A successful candidate must be a team-player and passionate about working on pathogens causing economically important soybean diseases. The initial appointment is for 12 months with potential for extension based on performance and funding.
Minimum qualifications
MS in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or related field or BS in Agriculture or Biology with 1+ years of lab experience.
Experience in basic molecular techniques such as DNA extraction and PCR.
Demonstrated research experience.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis.
Experience working with plants, fungi, or diagnostics of plant pathogens.
Evidence of scholarly authorship.
