Position Summary
Under the direction of the Building & Grounds Director, this position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall condition of the YMCA facility and surrounding grounds.
This role plays an important part in creating a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors while supporting the YMCA's mission and values.
Schedule
- Flexible scheduling available
- Must be available to work one weekend day
- Additional weekday hours available based on facility needs
What You'll Do
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for members and guests.
- Complete daily cleaning assignments throughout the building.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and clean restrooms and locker rooms.
- Empty trash and recycling throughout the facility.
- Refill restroom and cleaning supplies.
- Wash windows and maintain building appearance.
- Assist with seasonal outdoor maintenance including lawn care and snow removal.
- Perform minor maintenance, painting, and basic repairs as assigned.
- Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards promptly.
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for YMCA programs and special events.
- Ensure the building is secure during assigned shifts.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment and other maintenance tools.
- Assist with additional facility projects as needed.

Qualifications
- Previous custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or building services experience preferred (6 months or more).
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
Physical Requirements
This position is physically active and requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
- Safely use ladders and work at heights up to approximately 30 feet.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment and maintenance tools.
- Work around cleaning chemicals while following proper safety procedures.
