Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe for any changes in condition or behavior.
- Administer medication following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Support residents during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas.
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts safely to assist with mobility needs.
- Document care activities accurately in resident records and update care plans regularly.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties in residents’ rooms and common areas.
- Provide emotional support through active listening, patience, and encouragement to residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other disabilities.
- Collaborate with team members to develop personalized care plans that meet each resident’s unique needs.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, first aid procedures, and emergency response actions to ensure resident safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in patient care and mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Experience working with individuals who have autism or require memory care is desirable.
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a positive attitude toward caregiving roles.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
