Position Summary
Joshua Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and committed High School Bible Teacher who loves Jesus Christ, values God's Word, and desires to disciple students both academically and spiritually. The High School Bible Teacher will provide engaging biblical instruction, cultivate spiritual growth, and help students develop a biblical worldview that impacts every area of life.
Essential Responsibilities
Biblical Instruction
- Teach Bible courses to high school students in alignment with the school's statement of faith and biblical worldview.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that encourage critical thinking and spiritual growth.
- Teach foundational Christian doctrines, biblical literacy, apologetics, Christian worldview, and practical discipleship.
- Help students understand and apply Scripture to everyday life.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations.
Spiritual Development
- Serve as a spiritual mentor and role model for students.
- Lead classroom prayer, devotionals, and biblical discussions.
- Encourage students in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Partner with families and church communities in supporting students' spiritual formation.
- Participate in chapel services, spiritual emphasis events, and other faith-based activities.
Classroom Leadership
- Establish and maintain a positive, Christ-centered learning environment.
- Effectively manage classroom behavior using biblical principles and school policies.
- Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and academic excellence.
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress and expectations.
Collaboration & School Community
- Work collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
- Support the mission, vision, and culture of Joshua Christian Academy.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, student events, or committees as assigned.
Qualifications
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian mission.
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Bible, Theology, Christian Education, Ministry, or related field preferred.
- Teaching license preferred but not required.
- Experience teaching, discipling, or mentoring adolescents preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Scripture and Christian doctrine.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom during the school day.
- Ability to supervise students in various educational settings.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials as needed.
