MEMBERSHIP SALES SPECIALIST (Front Desk Sales)
The Membership Sales Specialist is often the first point of contact for prospective and current members at Gracie University—and plays a key role in shaping the student experience. This role blends customer service excellence with membership sales and retention, helping grow our community and ensure every student feels supported from their very first visit. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct structured enrollment consultations with prospective students and families to convert inquiries into active memberships.
- Schedule and confirm introductory lessons, trials, and enrollment appointments in alignment with established sales workflows.
- Execute disciplined follow-up with prospective students via phone, SMS, email, and in-person conversations to maintain consistent contact cadence.
- Convert trial participants into enrolled members by clearly presenting program options, pricing structures, and next steps.
- Achieve individual membership conversion and revenue targets aligned with department growth goals.
- Promote and sell merchandise, gear, and add-on services to support overall revenue performance.
- Serve as the primary front-desk presence by greeting visitors, answering incoming calls, and delivering a professional first impression.
- Provide facility tours and clearly explain programs, class structures, and membership options to prospective students.
- Deliver Black Belt customer service standards in all student and prospect interactions.
- Explain facility policies, procedures, and expectations to new members to support a smooth onboarding experience.
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation of all prospect and member interactions within CRM and membership systems.
- Update member records, including contact information, payment methods, and enrollment status.
- Monitor active leads and complete assigned follow-up tasks to ensure consistent progression through the enrollment process.
- Coordinate with Instructors and Student Experience team members to ensure accurate communication regarding trials, enrollments, and scheduling.
- Maintain organized front-desk operations, including visibility into merchandise inventory and readiness of supplies.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years of experience in sales, customer service, or administrative support, preferably in a gym or membership-based environment.
- A natural people person who is energized by connecting with others and sharing the benefits of training.
- Comfortable with sales conversations, goal tracking, and following up with leads.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with a warm and professional tone.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems; familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM/ticketing systems like Zoho is a plus.
- Consistent, professional appearance and demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated experience meeting or exceeding sales, conversion, or revenue targets.
- Experience conducting in-person or phone-based consultations with prospective customers.
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to present program options and confidently guide enrollment conversations.
- Experience working with CRM or student management systems such as Zoho CRM, Gymdesk, or comparable platforms.
- Proficiency in basic business software, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
- Experience documenting customer interactions and maintaining accurate records within digital systems.
- Ability to manage multiple active leads and follow-up tasks while maintaining response time standards.
- Experience working in education, fitness, membership-based, or service-oriented environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and merchandise sales is preferred.
- Familiarity with Gracie University programs and Black Belt customer service standards is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
