New Edge Orthopedics is seeking a professional, reliable, and welcoming Medical Receptionist to join our team in Jersey City. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional patient experience. Key Responsibilities - Patient Coordination & Front Desk Flow
- Patient Greeting: Warmly welcome patients upon arrival, manage the check-in/check-out process, and ensure all required intake forms and digital registrations are complete.
- Phone Management: Answer multi-line phones efficiently, screen and route calls, take accurate messages, and address patient inquiries with professionalism.
- Scheduling: Coordinate and optimize patient appointments, follow-up visits, and urgent consultations within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Insurance & Financial Administration
- Benefits Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility, copays, and deductibles utilizing digital insurance portals prior to scheduled appointments.
- Payment Collection: Collect copayments, past-due balances, and self-pay fees at the time of service, accurately documenting transactions.
- Referrals & Authorizations: Assist in ensuring necessary insurance referrals or electronic prior authorizations are in place before patient encounters.
Office Quality Control & Compliance
- Data Integrity: Accurately enter and update patient demographic and insurance information in the clinic software, minimizing billing errors.
- Record Management: Maintain patient confidentiality in strict compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Workspace Management: Keep the reception and waiting areas clean, organized, and welcoming for patients and staff.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administrative role preferred (orthopedic or sports medicine experience is a plus).
- Software: Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) and practice management software (e.g., eClinicalWorks, WebPT) and insurance verification portals (Availity, Navinet) is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong multitasking abilities, excellent verbal and written communication, and a calm, empathetic demeanor when interacting with patients in pain.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office assistant certification is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
