Global Village Academy – Douglas County is excited to continue building our Middle School Athletics Program! We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered coaches who believe athletics are an important extension of the school experience.
Our coaches are expected to create a positive, inclusive environment where student-athletes develop skills, confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and pride in representing GVA-DC.

Head Coach - $1,500 season stipend

Assistant Coach - $750 season stipend

Monday–Thursday commitment

Practices/competitions begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Head and Assistant Coaches will work together to:

Plan and conduct safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate practices.

Teach sport-specific skills, rules, strategies, and fundamentals.
-
Build a positive team culture centered on sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, and personal growth.

Establish clear expectations for student-athlete behavior, attendance, and participation.
-
Provide appropriate supervision of students during practices, games/meets, and team activities.

Communicate regularly and professionally with student-athletes, families, school administration, and other coaches.

Coordinate game/meet logistics and schedules with the school administration.
-
Maintain accurate team rosters and attendance.
-
Ensure equipment and facilities are used safely and responsibly.
-
Follow all GVA-DC safety, emergency, student supervision, and athletic procedures.

Model professionalism and positive behavior at all times.
-
Represent GVA-DC and the Dragon community with pride.
Head Coaches serve as the primary leader for their program and are responsible for:

Developing the overall practice and competition plan for the season.

Providing leadership and direction to Assistant Coaches.

Communicating team schedules, expectations, and updates to families.
-
Coordinating with school administration regarding facilities, transportation, equipment, officials, and competition schedules.

Ensuring student-athlete eligibility and required participation documentation are completed.

Addressing team concerns promptly and communicating significant issues to administration.

Promoting a culture in which every student-athlete feels welcomed, valued, challenged, and supported.
Preferred candidates will:

Have experience participating in, coaching, or teaching the applicable sport.

Enjoy working with middle school students.

Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Maintain high expectations while building positive relationships with students.
-
Understand that middle school athletics should emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, belonging, and growth.

Be dependable and available for the required practice and competition schedule.

Meet all school and applicable league requirements for coaches, including required background checks and training.
