POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time position assists Physician/Advanced Practice Provider by performing direct and indirect patient care as delegated by the Medical Provider within the Scope of Practice.
JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process in providing patient care.
- Applies nursing process, critical thinking, and judgment to clinical practice.
- Performs duties such as answering phones, placing calls, scheduling, order entry, and obtaining old records.
- Prepares patient charts for upcoming visits to ensure all results are available to include utilizing the electronic health record.
- Assists with cleaning of patient treatment areas.
- Restocks and orders supplies for patient treatment areas, nursing station, and supply carts.
- Cleans instruments and utensils and delivers to the sterile processing department.
- Triages patient telephone calls for medical providers. Reports information to Medical Provider and directs patients as orders are received. Provides patient education through direct and/or telephone contact as directed by the Medical Provider.
- Transports patients to appropriate areas.
- Performs medication administration and technical skills within the Scope of Practice.
- Coordinates and assists with discharge instructions, follow-up care, diagnostic testing, procedures, and medication instructions.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an approved accredited Nursing Program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Holds or is eligible for licensure as a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse in South Dakota and Minnesota.
