NLR is looking for individuals to conduct groups in an outpatient setting on topics concerning recovery and addiction. The position requires active and creative facilitation of group topics that assist our clients in gaining insight into their behavioral patterns and self-defeating actions. The ability to help clients acquire new behavioral and cognitive skills and to assist with promoting positive change is paramount. Our clients come from diverse backgrounds with various learning styles.
Applicant must possess skills in the areas of understanding human behavior, addiction and group dynamics. We are looking for a fulltime or part time substance abuse counselor.
Job Duties
- Performs Biopsychosocial Evaluations
- Attends weekly team meetings
- Leads group therapy sessions
- Holds individual therapy sessions
- Develops or improves materials and topics for group therapy sessions based on clinical expertise and experience
- Follows all facility policies and procedures, including those related to licensure, continuing education, patient confidentiality, and documentation standards
- Completes therapy notes, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, court reports, utilization reviews and discharge summaries
- May perform administrative duties in relationship to social work or mental health care.
Qualifications
- Must be qualified and licensed to perform duties that are in the scope of our job title. If you are going to school to become a SUDC, you are welcome to apply to become an intern.
- Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues
- Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing, multi-task, crisis-oriented environment
- Must be able to pass a background check
