Bright Horizons Recovery Home is a structured residential behavioral health treatment program serving adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs. Our program focuses on psychiatric stabilization, accountability, recovery support, independent living skills, and long-term reintegration into the community.
Residents participate in a structured phase-based program emphasizing treatment engagement, emotional regulation, recovery support, employment readiness, education, financial literacy, and community reintegration.
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and highly motivated Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) to help implement programming, support resident progress, and assist individuals in reaching measurable treatment and life milestones.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is responsible for supporting resident treatment engagement, case coordination, psychoeducational programming, behavioral support, recovery planning, and milestone implementation within a residential behavioral health setting.
The BHP works collaboratively with leadership, psychiatric providers, behavioral health technicians, and external partners to support residents in achieving stabilization, treatment goals, and successful reintegration into the community.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, organization, accountability, and the ability to work effectively with adults experiencing behavioral health and substance use challenges.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTreatment Planning & Resident Progress
- Assist with implementation, coordination, and monitoring of individualized treatment plans
- Participate in resident assessments, treatment planning, and progress reviews
- Monitor and support resident progression through program phases and milestone completion
- Conduct resident check-ins and assist with behavioral interventions and problem-solving
- Identify barriers to progress and coordinate appropriate interventions and referrals
- Assist residents with relapse prevention, emotional regulation, coping skills, and wellness planning
- Support residents in achieving treatment goals related to psychiatric stability, recovery, and reintegration
Program Milestone Implementation
- Assist residents with obtaining identification documents, benefits, and community resources
- Support residents with education, GED enrollment, vocational readiness, employment preparation, and independent living goals
- Assist residents with sponsor/recovery support engagement and recovery meeting participation
- Help residents complete relapse prevention plans, support system maps, financial literacy tasks, and reintegration planning
- Track resident progress toward phase-based milestones and provide documentation of completion
Group Facilitation & Psychoeducation
- Facilitate psychoeducational and skills-based groups related to:
- Coping skills
- Emotional regulation
- Relapse prevention
- Recovery support
- Life skills and independent living
- Goal setting and accountability
- Employment readiness and reintegration
- Financial literacy and wellness planning
Case Management & Community Coordination
- Coordinate referrals and communication with:
- Outpatient providers
- Psychiatric providers
- Community resources
- Workforce and educational programs
- Housing and reintegration supports
- Recovery support systems and peer resources
- Assist residents with appointment scheduling, follow-up, and continuity of care planning
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete accurate, timely, and professional documentation
- Maintain progress notes, treatment updates, milestone tracking, and required program records
- Participate in case staffing, treatment team meetings, and quality improvement activities
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, Utah residential behavioral health standards, and program policies
Resident Support & Behavioral Observation
- Observe resident behavior, mood, engagement, and overall functioning
- Identify signs of psychiatric destabilization, relapse risk, or safety concerns
- Collaborate with staff to implement behavioral interventions and support plans
- Assist with crisis response and de-escalation when needed
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following:
- CSW, ACMHC, AMFT, LCSW, CMHC, LMFT, or related behavioral health credential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Behavioral Health, or related field
- Experience working in behavioral health, residential treatment, substance use treatment, mental health, or community behavioral health settings
- Experience facilitating groups, treatment planning, case management, or behavioral interventions preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to engage individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges
- Strong organization, documentation, and follow-through
- Knowledge of behavioral health, co-occurring disorders, relapse prevention, recovery support, and trauma-informed care
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and support a structured treatment environment
Preferred Experience
- Residential treatment experience
- Co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment experience
- Motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, relapse prevention, or recovery-oriented approaches
- Experience supporting employment, education, or reintegration planning
Work Environment
This position operates within a residential behavioral health setting and requires regular interaction with residents in various stages of recovery and stabilization.
