Who We Are
Bamboo Teri House is a well-established, family-owned Japanese restaurant in Bixby Knolls that has been serving the community for nearly 40 years. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, low-stress work environment, and many of our employees have been with us for over 10 years.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone seeking a part-time position who has an interest in Japanese cuisine and the art of making sushi.
Previous sushi-making experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are happy to train someone who is motivated to learn, has a positive attitude, and enjoys working as part of a team.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of food preparation and food safety practices. A Food Handler’s Certificate will be required once training is complete.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing sushi ingredients, including vegetables, fish, sauces, and salads
- Making sushi and preparing customer orders
- Following proper food preparation and storage procedures
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Multitasking during busy periods
- Assisting in other areas of the kitchen when needed
Hours
We offer flexible scheduling and are looking for someone who can work part-time on either:
- Lunch Shift: Approximately 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Dinner Shift: Approximately 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Compensation
- Training Pay: Starting at $16.90/hour (training typically lasts 4–8 weeks)
- After Training: $17.50–$20.00/hour, depending on experience and performance
Employees receive one complimentary meal during each shift.
Room for Advancement
Based on your performance during your first 6–9 months, you may have the opportunity to be promoted to Kitchen Lead if you are interested.
As a Kitchen Lead, you will:
- Receive a $1.50/hour raise
- Learn how to prepare a variety of sauces, dressings, and kitchen bases
- Work directly with the owner on scheduling, quality control, and reducing food waste and costs
- Gain experience working in and managing multiple areas of the kitchen
